Thanks for stopping by. Here’s a little backstory on what finally led me to creating this website and a little context into my photography journey and experience so far.
September 2026
You can usually find me with some sort of camera around my neck.
This website has been a long time coming. Building a website centered on my photography was a desire all the way back in high school, but I never quite developed the skills to just, you know, ‘get it done.’ I dabbled in learning backend code and web design, even took a web design class or two in college, but those skills just never spoke to my interests like photography did and I never really got to the point of knowing what I was doing. So, I stuck to sharing things on Instagram.
For a few years, mainly during my undergraduate college years (2014-2018), I was actively posting content on Instagram in the menswear community. Specifically, I got into the “heritage menswear” community, as it was called. This was a moment in time before every post you’d see was an ad or sponsorship or whatever. It began as a genuine and cool group of (mostly) guys who appreciated well-made clothing and the people behind the items. This was counter to broader culture norms, so it made these items feel special among lots of fast fashion items that most people wore.
All the Ingredients, c. 2018
One of my later menswear-related Instagram posts: Japanese-made coat layered over a Japanese-made flannel. USA-made raw selvedge denim. Leather gloves. USA-made heritage-style boots. Timeless.
For the record: I still love the vibes of this shot!
Raw selvedge denim. Cone Mills. Kuroki Mills. Sashiko weave. Shuttle loomed. Chain stitched. Fades. Made in USA. Made in Japan. All buzzwords and monikers of an era I recognize.
My interests in photography happened to coincide with this moment, so in my spare time I would take photos of various clothing items or accessories I would make and accumulate. Brands would be tagged. They might share my photo from time-to-time. I might get some more follows or likes. I’d throw in some nature or family shots every now and then. It was fun!
But soon, the fun faded (pun intended). People moved on. Instagram shifted toward algorithm-driven feeds and prioritizing sponsored content and Stories. TikTok transformed how people scroll through social media. It’s an arguably unfortunate timeline many of us know. (You will never find me on TikTok.)
Fast-forward to now, and you’ll still find me wearing many of the items I invested in about a decade ago, albeit in a looser cut. However, on Instagram, I’ve been largely quiet on the posting front for a few years. The only reason I keep it is for the archive of posts. And for keeping up with Indycar.
This brings me to this website. I like to think this blog can act as my ‘old school IG’ of sorts. A place I can post thoughts, alongside recent photography work. My goal is to start a new personal outlet or ‘feed’ that I can control, showcasing my work and archive my thoughts.
